Dramatic sunset breaking through dark storm clouds over layered mountain ridges and a wooded valley.

Murder is never a victory. It’s a life selfishly stolen by another and a wound that no amount of time can fully heal. It shatters families, leaves silence where laughter once lived, and steals memories that will never be made. The loss is permanent. The grief, generational.

Grief is not a weapon. We will never be able to move forward by saying, “What about this person?” or “They did this first,” as if pain and grief could be tallied on a scoreboard.

Life doesn’t work in reverse. If it did, I’d go back to the days when my momma was still here and freeze time forever. But we can’t. None of us can undo what has already happened or change how a tragedy in the past was handled.

We also can’t control how others react. But we can choose how we respond. We can answer tragedy with more anger, more hatred, and more division. Or we can decide we’re not going to keep doing this to each other.

If we are ever going to heal as a country, we have to stop pointing fingers. We have to learn that disagreement doesn’t demand destruction. That political opposition is not a license for cruelty or violence.

You don’t have to agree with someone. You don’t even have to like someone. But you are NEVER entitled to take their life.

We can stand firm in our beliefs without resorting to violence. We have to do better. And we have to start now.

This has to be our turning point. 🙏

Proverbs 24:17–18: “Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, or the Lord will see and disapprove.”
